I recently had the pleasure of taking a two-week sailing trip with South Coast Sailing Adventures to explore the stunning islands of Raiatea, Huahine, Taha’a, Maupiti, and Bora Bora. This trip was an unforgettable adventure that I will treasure for years to come. One of the highlights of the trip was the opportunity to swim with sharks and rays in the crystal-clear waters surrounding the islands. It was an awe-inspiring experience to be in the presence of these majestic creatures, and I felt safe and well-guided throughout the entire excursion. Another highlight was the snorkeling, which we got to do almost every day. The variety of fish and other marine life we encountered was incredible, and the coral reefs were stunning. The crew were knowledgeable and took us to some of the best spots for viewing marine life. In addition to the water activities, we also got to explore the islands on land. We hiked through lush forests, biked along the coast, and even tried our hand at stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking. Everyone was helpful and accommodating, ensuring that everyone had a fun and safe time. Everyone had a choice on what they wished to do. Most evenings we ate onshore at a local restaurant. It was a great way to see how the locals live. Breakfast and lunch were generally on board between morning snorkels and afternoon sailing to a new destination. One of the most memorable experiences of the trip was the traditional luau on Taha’a. The food was delicious and authentic, as was the dancing and music. The festivities were all put on by a local island family. It was a wonderful way to learn about the local culture and connect with the community. Overall, I cannot recommend South Coast Sailing Adventures and their French Polynesia flotilla enough. It is the best and only way to see these islands. The crew were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, and the itinerary was well-planned to maximize our enjoyment of the islands. If you’re looking for an adventure of a lifetime, this is the trip for you!
