MEDITERRANEAN FLOTILLA ~ DALMATIAN ISLANDS, CROATIA

Join our most popular itinerary in Croatia with visits to islands like Hvar, Brac, and Vis. This itinerary, which we started in 2009, has constantly remained the most popular choice for first-time sailors in Croatia.

Sail and explore one of the hotspots in the Mediterranean, Croatia. Located east across the Adriatic Sea from Italy, it is a sailor’s and cruiser’s paradise with crystal clear waters, picturesque fishing villages, scenic coves for anchoring, history-rich cities, delicious foods, and wonderful wines.

  • Airport: Split SPU
  • Currency: Euro (as of Jan 1, 2023)
  • Fleet: Catamarans (Lagoon +40), monohull (Bavaria, Sun Odyssey)
  • Prices are based on double occupancy starting at $2095 per person, including flotilla fee, charter fee, tourist tax, and outboard.
  • Airfare, airport transfers, hotels before and after the cruise, and dinners on shore are not included.
  • Provisioning, docking and mooring fees, and final refueling are shared by means of a common kitty on each boat. The cost per person is about $250.00 and final accounting is done for each boat at the end of the week.

ASA 103, 104 & 114 instruction and certification are available. One dedicated yacht with an ASA instructor will follow, and students will enjoy the flotilla experience while training. Minimum 2 students, maximum 6. Contact us for pricing.

Flotilla Leaders

Capt. Jean and “Admiral” Mila have been organizing sailing flotillas with American Sailing since 2009 and have introduced many sailors and non-sailors to fascinating destinations in the Mediterranean and Seychelles. They know the sailing waters and show participants places that many tourists do not know. They put a very heavy emphasis on safety while ensuring that all participants go home with fun and unforgettable vacation memories.

Jean, a native of Belgium, lives with Mila, his Peruvian-born wife, in Florida. He holds a USCG 100T Master’s license and is qualified to teach ASA 101, 103, 104, 105, 114, and 118. Together they run Whitecaps Sailing, an ASA sailing school in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Itinerary
Saturday

Visit of Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the morning, followed by provisioning.

Check-in on our yachts at Marina Baotić in the afternoon Departure from Marina Baotić in Trogir to the island of Šolta around 17:00.

We plan on anchoring or mooring in Uvala Šešula on the northside of the island. Dinner on board or at one of the restaurants on shore.

Sunday

Sailing to Vis, the “Greek” island in Mama Mia II. Arriving at Vis Island, stop in the Rogačić anchorage for a swim and exploring of the abandoned military cold war installations.

Docking in Vis Harbor and a traditional Dalmatian dinner at Konoba Kod Magića, a vineyard in the mountains of the island.

Monday

Sail to Komiža on the other side of Vis Island. Komiža is a picturesque typical Dalmatian fishing village and a favorite charter destination.

Stops for swimming and snorkeling along the way. We take a mooring ball and go ashore for dinner. This is our pizza, beer and gelato night.

Tuesday

We will sail along the south coast of Vis to the island of Hvar. Stop along the way at one of the small bays, like Uvala Stiniva or Uvala Travna, for some swimming and snorkeling.

We will dock at Marina Palmižana on St. Klement Island, opposite of Hvar and take the water taxi to Hvar to visit the city and have dinner ashore in one of the many restaurants.

Wednesday

On the other side of Hvar Island is the scenic port of Vrboska. It is an adorable little port with excellent restaurants and great Gelato.

Some stops along the way for swimming snorkeling and having lunch.

We will dock at either the ACI marina or the municipal marina. Dinner ashore. Enjoy this small city that seems like frozen in time.

Thursday

We cross the Hvarski Kanal to the island of Brac and will sail by the beach of Zlatni Rat, the most photographed beach of Croatia.

After a lunch on board and some swimming near Zlatni Rat, we sail to the small fishing port of Milna where we will spend the night.

Friday

We return to the base, with some more swimming and good sailing along the way and arrive around 16:00 at the Baotić Marina where we will refuel before returning to our slips.

You can stay on board on Friday night but, if you do, you will have to disembark by 8:30 on Saturday morning.

Marina Baotić is a modern marina with excellent facilities, a pool and bar and restaurants.

Testimonials
I have had the pleasure of sailing with Med Sailing Adventures twice in Croatia and in Greece! Both times have been an incredible experience. Both Mila and Jean have the unique skill of bringing people of all ages and experience level together to create an amazing experience no matter where you are in the world. They encouraged me to learn to sail and even get certified to make this a life long sport. There’s nothing quite like it and I feel very safe and secure with Med Sailing Adventures trips knowing I will have the time of my life. Thank you Jean and Mila!

We just finished a week sailing with Jean and Mila! They were absolutely wonderful and took us to some amazing places in Croatia and Montenegro! I highly recommend sailing with them. We had some great laughs and created some incredible lifelong memories. Bravo Jean and Mila…

We went with Jean and Mila to Croatia on our first “Flotilla” several years ago. It was a superbly orchestrated event. The sailing was outstanding and the ports were spectacular. The trip gave some independence but was “group” enough for the novice Cruiser too! Jean was great “tour guide’ for the trip. We returned with Jean and Mila to Mallorca with the whole family, this trip too was outstanding! The culture, the food, The sailing!
Kevin S. – Oklahoma City, OK
After listening to Jean’s presentation about sailing in Croatia at Strictly Sail Chicago, I was sold! My instincts did not fail me. The trip to Croatia was so fantastic that we signed up for the flotilla in Spain a few years later. With their vast experience and knowledge of Mediterranean sailing, Jean and Mila lead groups of both novice and skilled sailors to explore beautiful islands and enjoy the culture and gastronomy that each destination offers. We are looking forward to many more trips with Med Sailing Adventures!
