Testimonials

100% recommend this sailing school!! My boyfriend did the 103 and 104 classes back to back – and I joined him for the 104 bareboat class. We HIGHLY recommend opting for the live aboard option because cooking meals as a group and waking up with coffee on the water is truly unbeatable. One of the highlights of the course was the instructor, Wipers, who was not only a very patient and practical teacher but also great entertainment as he has many tales to tell! Keep in mind that this is not a luxury yacht and while all the basics are provided – it does not come with amenities you would expect at a hotel (this is the case for any bareboat sailing course). If you think of it like glamping on the water then you’ll have an amazing adventure. TIP: Buy and bring your ASA book to the course. There is a lot of material and you will enjoy your experience more if you are able to follow along and review with your own book!

I had an incredible experience with my ASA 101, 103, & 104 9-day live aboard course. Marianna is very helpful, responsive and accommodating. I felt welcome from the time I met her. My instructor, Peter (Wipers), was the best sailing instructor I could have had. That is one salty sailor- you can clearly tell he has decades of experience. He treated me like family during my time there, and his patience was instrumental in my success. He kept a calm composure during drills which was extremely grounding, especially in times where I felt nervous. Barbados is a beautiful place with beautiful people. The seas and wind were perfect for learning to sail. My experience in the course has left a very strong impression, I was sad to go. I will definitely be coming back to Barbados for a day sail with Wet & Salty some time in the future.

I had lots of fun and learnt loads. The boat was comfortable without being cumbersome, simple layout, easy to control, ideal for training. Our instructor Peter was a goldmine of experience and sound advice. Thank you Marianna for the slick organisation. Highly recommended.

I booked Wet & Salty Adventure Sailing School in Barbados for their ASA 101/103 sailing courses in February 2025 and I cannot recommend it enough. I had never sailed before. Barbados is the perfect place to go for this as the seas are calm and its not overly hot in the winter. Marianna, the owner, is extremely responsive and helpful with everything from booking the classes, what should be brought, to where to stay on the island for easy access. Peter “Wippers” Hoard is the best sailing instructor anyone can ask for. He’s patient and always made me feel safe. He clearly exhibits a lifetime of sailing and local knowledge. As a woman, I was looking for an instructor that could really be patient with me. He truly understood the ASA curriculum. I feel like I have the base knowledge to join the crew of any boat. I will be going back for my ASA 104 this year. You will want to keep coming back!
