The Greek islands provide an idyllic setting for women learning how to sail. Our school, the oldest ASA sailing affiliate in Europe, boasts over 20 years of teaching experience. Our female instructors are all ASA certified and have many years of sailing experience, they will be your only instructor when you sail with our “all-women crews”. Our summer base is on the Island of Poros, located in the Saronic Island group. Here, the constant gentle winds and calm seas make teaching sailing a pleasurable experience.
The picturesque landscapes and secluded spots create a dreamlike environment for sailing. Aspiring sailors can navigate through the Greek islands, honing their skills while exploring the area’s unique culture and history. With its combination of favourable sailing conditions and vibrant maritime culture, Greece is an exceptional destination for those looking to master the art of sailing.
Our summer base is located on the island of Poros, just a short ferry ride from the Athens ferry port in Piraeus. We offer a variety of yachts designed for a live-aboard experience, featuring private cabins and all the comforts of home. Our qualified female instructor speaks four languages and is dedicated to fostering an empowering and supportive learning environment.
The structure of the classes ensures that mornings are devoted to theoretical learning, while afternoons are spent sailing. Evenings offer the chance to explore the beautiful Poros Island and enjoy delicious Greek cuisine at local tavernas. Starting with the beginner’s week, participants complete ASA 101 and 103, qualifying as competent crew members. Further progression in sailing education is available thereafter.
In the summer of 2025, our school will introduce women-only sailing classes. Many dates are available throughout the summer, starting from May 3-10. Please check our webpage here, https://athenssailingacademy.com/sailing-school-for-women/, for additional suitable dates.
