Women of the Wind is a unique sailing experience by the Athens Sailing Academy, designed especially for women who want to learn, explore, and take command at sea. Join our female-only ASA sailing classes in Greece and discover how empowering it feels to take the helm — surrounded by supportive women sailors and expert instructors.
We female sailors — the Women of the Wind — are proving that sailing is for everyone. Whether you’re a beginner or a future skipper, our goal is to help you build confidence, seamanship, and independence on the water. At the Athens Sailing Academy, we provide a safe, supportive environment where women can learn sailing basics and advanced cruising skills, gain ASA certification recognized worldwide, sail through the beautiful Greek islands aboard modern yachts, and connect with a community of passionate women sailors. If you’ve ever dreamed of hoisting the sails or skippering your own yacht, this is your chance to take the plunge.
Many women hesitate to begin sailing — unsure if they’ll fit in or if they have the skills. That’s exactly why we created Women of the Wind: to offer a space where women can learn, ask questions, and grow at their own pace. Our courses are perfect for women trying sailing for the first time, women looking for a supportive and non-competitive environment, and women who dream of becoming captains and managing a crew. Each course is taught by a female ASA-certified instructor with years of sailing and teaching experience.
Our base on Poros Island, just one hour from Athens by fast ferry, offers one of the most beautiful and stress-free sailing environments in Greece. Sailing from Poros means you skip the busy Athens marinas and crowds, begin your adventure already in the islands, and enjoy easy provisioning, relaxed check-in, and a friendly local atmosphere. Each day brings sailing among nearby islands like Hydra, Spetses, and Aegina. Poros combines the charm of Greek island life with the practicality of a modern sailing hub — the ideal place to begin your ASA journey.
At the Athens Sailing Academy, we’re proud to be the oldest ASA sailing school in Europe, and one of the few offering all-female sailing programs in Greece. Our mission is to help every woman become a confident sailor, capable crew member, and inspiring captain. You’ll gain new skills, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable memories — all while sailing through the turquoise waters of Greece.

In the heart of the Aegean Sea, no island is too large or too small for you to explore. Some islands are cosmopolitan and luxurious — with elegant marinas, lively ports, and fine dining by the sea. Others are pure and pristine, where untouched beaches and timeless villages await sailors seeking peace and authenticity.
Every island tells a different story. Some are sunbaked and rugged, others lush and green with hidden coves and emerald waters. This stunning diversity is what makes Aegean sailing in Greece one of the most unforgettable experiences in the world.
From the whitewashed Cyclades and historical Dodecanese, to the verdant Sporades and mysterious North Aegean, the sea is dotted with islands ready to be discovered.
With every sail, the horizon changes — and so does the mood. One day you’re anchoring in a quiet bay beneath a sleepy fishing village; the next, you’re stepping ashore in a lively harbor filled with music, color, and charm.
Whether you’re sailing aboard a monohull yacht, a luxury catamaran, or joining a flotilla, you can explore a new island every day — each with its own landscape, culture, and cuisine.
