Captain Richard began sailing at the age of eight off the coast of Puerto Rico in a Sunfish. By sixteen, he was already racing Hobie Cats competitively and soon went on to participate in prestigious events such as the Around Puerto Rico Race and the Middle Sea Race in Malta.
A defining milestone in his sailing career came when he proudly represented Puerto Rico in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.
Over the years, Captain Richard has gained extensive offshore and charter experience aboard both monohulls and catamarans, sailing throughout the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, the Mediterranean, and Baja California.
He is certified by the American Sailing Association to teach ASA 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, and 114 (Catamaran). In 2019, he was honored with the ASA Outstanding Instructor Award, a distinction voted on by his students.
With decades of experience, competitive accomplishments, and a deep passion for mentoring sailors of all levels, Captain Richard brings exceptional knowledge, leadership, and enthusiasm to every voyage.
