This is your opportunity to experience an ocean passage. This spring, sail aboard Arabella from the BVI to Bermuda as a passenger during the repositioning. Arabella accommodates 12 adventure seekers seeking a different kind of sailing experience.
Sail the open ocean on Arabella.
Experience is not required.
This is a no-frills offshore passage of approximately 825 nautical miles.
Arabella is a large, powerful vessel, and sailing her offshore is not the same as coastal cruising or protected-water passages. Everything is bigger in the ocean, especially the motion of the boat in rough weather. Arabella will roll since she has a clipper ship hull. For some people, the constant motion is a new experience and can lead to fatigue. This is not a stroll in the park (unless there is very light wind). On most passages, you will be challenged, and you will become a stronger sailor.
Each crew will be asked to participate in 2-hour watches throughout the day and night. The normal rotation on Arabella is 2 hours on and 6 hours off. For people new to watch standing, this is something you will have to acclimate to. You may experience some fatigue and have difficulty sleeping with the motion of the boat. There will be strict safety guidelines in place for this passage, including rules for being on deck at night. Arabella is outfitted with state-of-the-art harnesses. You just need to know that ocean passages are normally challenging, and this trip should challenge you. It can bring people outside your comfort zone, but you will be safe on Arabella, and you will grow significantly as a sailor.

From our side, safety is paramount. Just as important is positioning Arabella as what she truly is: a top-tier, highly professional offshore sailing experience. This is not a casual sail, and it’s not designed for spectators. Everyone aboard is part of the crew.
That said, for sailors who are ready for it, this kind of passage is unforgettable. Few experiences sharpen seamanship, build confidence, and deepen respect for the ocean quite like sailing a large boat offshore with a capable crew.
If you have questions about preparation, gear, fitness, or what to expect day-to-day, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We want everyone stepping aboard informed, prepared, and excited for the challenge ahead.

Over the next few days, the heart of this voyage will unfold as we set sail on the iconic crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. Embrace the thrill of hoisting Arabella’s large three sails, an empowering moment signaling the beginning of our passage. With the engines off and the propeller feathered, experience the absolute peace and tranquility of offshore sailing, gliding silently through the vast, blue ocean.
From hands-on helm time to navigating under celestial skies, each day is an opportunity to build your sailing skills. During downtime from sailing responsibilities, utilize Arabella’s spacious salon or expansive sundeck to relax.
Finally, as we disembark and bid farewell to the seaworthy Arabella, we will cherish the extraordinary journey we’ve shared with her and look forward to many more offshore sailing adventures that lie ahead.
