The British Virgin Islands are the best cruising grounds in the world. Your week of sailing will take you from one great anchorage to another. You will start from the main island of Tortola and then visit Virgin Gorda, Cooper Island, Jost Van Dyke and Norman Island.
Arabella will be anchored and waiting for you off Soper’s Hole (her draft is too deep to come to dock). Guests will be able to board Arabella after 4pm on Day 1. Once aboard, you will be assigned your cabin.
Once settled, we will set sail to our first destination, Marina Cay. There is good snorkeling nearby and you can visit luxurious Scrub Island. The sunset from the top of Marina Cay is memorable. A quick walk over to the One Shoe Bar at Scrub Island promises a picturesque beach, snorkeling and plenty of rum drinks. Dinner this evening will be at Scrub Island Resort.
After a leisurely breakfast, Arabella will sail to North Sound in Virgin Gorda. This is the Caribbean paradise you have had wild dreams about. Beaches, snorkeling, sun and sand await. A party on the beach or cocktails on the deck, day 3 will reset your soul. For dinner, try at Leverick Bay for casual or fine dining or take a taxi to a nearby restaurant for local fare.
This is your day of rest. Wake up slowly, stretch, do yoga or go for a swim. You can schedule dive and snorkeling expeditions or rent some Lasers or Hobies. There is also a full spa with relaxing massages nearby. Take a taxi to the Baths and then head to Hog Heaven for lunch. Dinner aboard Arabella this evening.
It is time to continue our journey and we sail downwind. We sail over to Cooper Island. There is excellent snorkeling nearby and the beach club has comfortable chairs for resting underneath the palm trees. Happy Hour on Cooper Island will tempt you to dance on the beach. The rum bar on Cooper Island holds the largest Collection of rum in the Caribbean. Dinner will be on Arabella this evening.
We sail to Jost Van Dyke, home of world famous “Foxy’s.” Our first stop will be White Bay which is home to the Soggy Dollar Bar and the more relaxed Ivan’s nearby. The way you reach shore is by jumping out of the tender and swimming, hence the name “soggy dollar.” In the afternoon, we head over to Great Harbor and anchor for the night. You can sometimes catch Foxy, the island’s poet and philosopher, singing at the bar in the afternoon. Dinner is ashore and there is usually a dancing crowd at Foxy’s late night.
After a leisurely start to the morning, Arabella will sail over to Norman Island. You can go snorkeling at the famous Caves or hike up the hill for a great lookout over the mooring field. There is also a new restaurant ashore called the “Pirate’s Bight.” Dinner will be aboard Arabella followed by music on the aft deck. Late at night, Willie T’s is famous for sailors who sometimes get caught up in the Caribbean spirit and jump into the water from the upper deck in a specific manner.
All good things must slowly come to an end. Arabella will start early and raise her sails for one last glorious sail back to Soper’s Hole. We will anchor off the harbor by 8 a.m. so guests who need to can catch an early ferry. Then it is time to say goodbye to the captain, crew and all your new friends and ride the tender back to shore. You can spend a final night in the Caribbean at a nice hotel in Road Town or you can fly back home the same day.
Please Note. This itinerary is only an example. All stops are subject to the captain’s discretion and may vary due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Steering a 157 foot schooner under full canvas in 20-25 plus winds was exciting, with the wind tearing at my hair. With beautiful blue skies and turquoise seas in 80 degrees, what could be better?
Everything is taken care of. You don’t have to worry about anything. You just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery, fresh sea air and fantastic ports of call to explore. In a very short time, we all got to know each other and everyone felt like family to me. I learned a lot, and enjoyed sharing this brief moment in time and space on this lovely boat called the Arabella.
What do a film producer, a tech consultant, a dad and his son have in common with a group of Puritans? They all boarded a boat named Arabella bound for Massachusetts, albeit 385 years apart. Unlike John Winthrop and crew the modern passengers sailed in comfort on an ASA sponsored voyage to Martha’s Vinyard, Nantucket and Cuttyhunk islands!
Absolutely no better way to relax… A full day of sailing aboard the “melts my heart” Arabella, lobster for dinner and slow trip back to the schooner during golden hour. Fantastic!
