Understanding the New European Travel Visa Program and Global Travel Visa Requirements

For travelers planning to visit Europe, a new visa requirement is set to take effect. The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is a travel authorization program that will be mandatory for visitors from visa-exempt countries, such as the United States, Canada, and Australia when traveling to the Schengen Area.

What is the Shengen Area

The Schengen Area encompasses most EU countries, except for Cyprus and Ireland. Bulgaria and Romania became the newest members of the Schengen Area after the checks on persons at the internal land borders were lifted as of 1 January 2025. How to Obtain an ETIAS Visa

The ETIAS is not a traditional visa but an electronic travel authorization.
